Day ONE
When we arrived in Brighton, we immediately left our belongings in our room and set out to take some photos. A lot of these photos were just messing about with my camera settings, to see what I could do . I had to keep my ISO high for most of the time, as it was getting darker and darker. I kept my shutter speed fairly consistent, only occasionally doing long exposures, I kept my aperture low as well.

Day twoThe second day of the trip began with a trip to the cross channel mission exhibit, which contained the work of 9 photographers and their documenting of the construction of the channel tunnel. Our task was to create a display relating to the theme, using a space of roughly a meter squared. the challenge was that one group member had to be inside the of space.
Our piece was built on the theme of confusion, covering the subjects mouth and eyes, tying their hands together, and trapping them in an interconnecting 'web', linking all the photos but not cohesively. we carried over the confusion into censorship, covering up segments of the photographs with crosses and tape to block them out. |
After regrouping, we were given a task. The theme of the biennial was "a new Europe" and the themes of uncertainty and the recent history of Europe. We were told to try and convey the sense of isolation of an immigrant arriving on the beach. To do this, my group headed close to the sea and did a series of long exposures, to blur my face and create light paintings behind me.
