Abstraction
Abstraction is a difficult concept to explain. To (try to) put it simply, (add me pls) . There is a huge range of ways to manipulate a photograph. It could be argued that simply taking a photo can be considered an abstraction, given that it then becomes captured on a card or on film, making the image become flat and in a way not real.
Abstractions can also be a result of limitations or possibilities of a camera. For example, when the first cameras were being developed and used, taking a picture was a very different process. Photographs were limited by the technology of the time, limited by colour, exposure time, and many other features. These early photographs were abstracted, but not by creative choice. Nowadays we are in effect spoiled for choice with digital camera settings, able to adjust the shutter speed, ISO, aperture, and many other features on a whim, as they are built into a camera. That doesn't even take into account the even more possibilities given by post production editing, which lets us change even more about our photographs.

Photobooks
Photobooks are used to present photos. They don't necessarily have to be books, and this allows for abstraction to take place. If you think of a normal book, its usually printed paper, sequenced, and fairly ordered in most aspects. But abstracting this idea creates far more fun 'books' than normal. Maybe it could be printed onto cloth, maybe presented as a deck of cards, or maybe it can be more of a performative presentation, with a video associated with or featuring the book, or an interactive book. When it comes to abstraction of a photobook, the possibilities available are huge and can help to create something to present photographs that doesn't even remotely resemble a book.
