In its earliest form, photography consisted of exposing light sensitive paper to light and imprinting an image onto it. Photography has come a long way since then, but light still remains a key component of every photograph.

negativesWhen taking photographs in this way, finding a balance between exposure length, lighting, and focus is key. Pinhole cameras give very wide views, so working out where the focus of the image is best takes time.
When experimenting, I found that using minimal, high intensity, light close to the subject proved highly effective for portraits, allowing me to capture the detail of the subject, while keeping the background simple. |
